    Pandora.com - awesome internet radio

There is an awesome website that has revolutionized internet radio as we know it. Pandora.com is the hottest site for internet radio right now. the site is part of the 'Music Genome Project' - a huge effort to categorize music not by genre, but by its components and styles of sound. this innovative approach allows pandora to find new music within your tastes, and streams music that matched that style for you. this allows you to broaden you musical horizons by finding new songs and artists that you did not know of, yet they are similar to what you have told pandora is your certain taste. you can create several radio stations on pandora for different music styles. the site and system of pandora is top-notch; a fancy flash interface works seamlessly with the backend to deliver content. you also get in-depth artist bios and 'behind the music'-style info with what pandora calls 'backstage' - taking you to a webpage with more information. you also get your own profile that showcases the radio stations that you have created, available for others to tune into. here's my zonabi profile on pandora.

truly a step forward for the internet and music technologies, pandora is making big waves. too big, in fact, that the government is trying to clamp down on internet radio sites like this. they are passing legislation in congress that will nearly triple the licensing fees that internet radio companies like pandora are paying. these fees are higher than what conventional radio and satellite radio have to pay. totally unfair. if you want to help stop this violation of our freedom to internet radio, you can check out www.savenetradio.org

to my googled surprise - last.fm

so i was googling the word zonabi and came across something strange. i saw one of the results was a profile from a website called last.fm, claiming that i was one of their registered users. so off i clicked to see what it was about and found to my surprise it was indeed a profile for someone named zonabi. furthermore, this last.fm website is about music and playlists, and on zonabi's profile it had his current playlist-- displaying the songs he had just listened too. i was seriously dumbfounded, because these songs were in fact the songs i had played on my PC that day and the timestamps were accurate. i almost began to freak out, if i hadnt begun to remember that i did sign up with this site over a year ago (when i went on a forum/website registration binge) in an effort to promote my site. even after that realization though, i couldnt really figure out how the site knew what songs i was listening to! must have been some kind of plug-in for winamp that i installed way back when. i love it when i find myself thinking ahead of myself...

...anyhow, the www.last.fm website is pretty cool and showcases alot of music and is really good for expanding your musical horizons. if you want to check my profile out click here or if you're interested in viewing my extended playlist of recent songs click here. or perhaps you'd like the raw rss feed?
